ALLIANCE IN FOCUS

Over the past few weeks we've seen some great business relevant CPD events and support offered by a number of Alliance Affiliates, as well as some excellent consumer research recognising the value and importance of financial advice.

We have been involved in a number of discussions over the past few weeks regarding the FCA and HM Treasury focus on the Advice Guidance Boundary Review. The Alliance is working on a new approach to the Advice-gap which we will announce in the New Year.

This month we feature some recent publications and highlight three key webinars that will offer further practical ideas on Consumer Duty implementation: one from the FCA and the latest in our own series of Consumer Duty Champions' and Technology Forums.

I am delighted to report that membership of the Alliance continues to grow at pace and we are equally delighted to welcome the latest organisations that have joined the Alliance's Affiliate Scheme, which include BNY Mellon, Charles Stanley, LIBF, Mailock and Octopus Investments.

Please don't forget to follow us on LinkedIn and X (Twitter) to get the latest Alliance news.

Very best wishes,

Keith Richards, CEO, Consumer Duty Alliance and Chairman, Financial Vulnerability Taskforce

FCA webinar – Consumer Duty: The next steps

This FCA live webinar aims to help firms understand their expectations now the Duty is in force. It's at 10:00 on Wednesday, 6 December and will focus on:

  • FCA’s supervision and enforcement approach
  • Sector specific areas of focus
  • Examples of good practice
  • Next steps for firms.

There will also be time for questions. Book your space here.

Many firms are seeking more clarity on how Consumer Duty applies to the ‘coalface’ of delivering financial advice.

This new webinar looks at the key building blocks of good advice and the practical steps firms have taken to comply with the Duty, and there’ll be time for questions from attendees.

Michael Lawrence and his expert guests will discuss how firms are adapting their business models to deliver advice more efficiently and demonstrate the positive client outcomes they’re delivering. He's joined by David Ferguson, Nick Eatock and John Porteous; the experience and insights of this panel are unique so it promises to be an hour well spent.
